Upcoming Webinars

CYAN currently has two webinar series focusing on youth/young adult tobacco use and engagement.

While cigarette smoking is decreasing, use of other tobacco products is not changing or is increasing among youth and young adults. This two-part webinar series will explore tobacco use behaviors of teens and 18-25 year olds.

Youth and Young Adult Tobacco Use Behavior: Findings from Research
June 28, 2017 @ 10:00am – 11:00am
Webinar Registration
This webinar will highlight findings from published research on how young people use tobacco, the products that are most commonly used, and characteristics of youth/young adults that are using tobacco.  In addition to information on tobacco products, speakers from CYAN and Rover will briefly share current marijuana prevalence data and introduce marijuana terminology.

Youth and Young Adult Tobacco Use: Findings from CYAN Focus Groups
July 26, 2017 @ 10:00am – 11:00am
Webinar Registration
In April and May 2017, CYAN conducted focus groups with high school-age youth and young adults across California. The focus groups included a discussion on tobacco and marijuana use, product knowledge, perceptions, and behavior among peers groups. Additionally, CYAN sought feedback on the type of educational materials that resonate with young people. Findings from these focus groups will be shared during this webinar along with recommendations for increasing education to young people on new and emerging tobacco and marijuana products.

Over the summer months, CYAN will be hosting a four-part Webinar Series on engaging youth in tobacco control advocacy.  Each webinar is designed to explore and discuss specific strategies for engaging youth, assessing your current organizational capacity to work with youth, and determining the next steps to maximize youth-adult partnerships.

Subcontracting with Existing Youth Organizations or Groups
August 9, 2017 @ 2:00pm – 3:00pm

Through subcontracts, youth-led coalitions can have the support needed to lead tobacco-free policy campaigns in the community. This webinar will discuss the benefits of subcontracting with existing youth groups, share strategies for subcontracting with other organizations, and provide examples of successful youth subcontracts in tobacco control.
