Youth Quest 2017!
Mark your calendars! The California Youth Advocacy Network (CYAN) is pleased to  host Youth Quest 2017 on Monday, March 13, 2017.  At Youth Quest 2017, youth participants will learn about current tobacco control priorities; receive training on meeting with legislators; participate in a march, rally, and youth-led press conference at the State Capitol; and visit with their legislator(s).

Webinar Series: Tobacco-Free College Campuses

In January, February, and March, we will be hosting a three-part Webinar Series on college and university smoke/tobacco-free policy adoption, implementation, and maintenance/enforcement.

Policy Adoption: Friday, January 27th, 1:00pm

Learn about the different paths to smoke/tobacco-free policy adoption on college campuses.  The following questions will be addressed:

  • What should you do if your campus administration is unsupportive of a policy?
  • How should you approach unions on campus?
  • What if the faculty senate is unsupportive?
  • What should your official policy recommendation look like?

Policy Implementation: Friday, February 10th, 1:00pm

Are you planning to go smoke/tobacco-free in the Fall?  Find out what you can do now to prepare your campus for the change.  Hear stories of how other campuses have tackled policy implementation.

Policy Maintenance and Enforcement: Friday, March 17th, 1:00pm

Wonder what’s going to happen with your smoke/tobacco-free policy one, two or five years down the road?  Join in to learn:

  • Punitive and non-punitive enforcement strategies
  • Answers to your questions about using citations
  • Policy maintenance strategies
  • What to do one, two and three years after your policy goes into effect
