New CYAN Website Coming Soon…

CYAN will be launching a new organization website in May 2018.  While the new site is under development, minimal updates will be made to the existing site.  We thank you for your patience as we finalize the new site which will have expanded youth-focused resources and youth/young adult educational materials.

2018 Statewide Youth Advocacy Conference

CYAN is now accepting applications for the 2018 Statewide Youth Advocacy Conference. The Conference will be held on June 24 – June 27, 2018 at the Diamond Arrow Conference Center in Nevada City, CA.  This conference will strengthen youth engagement in local tobacco control advocacy efforts by providing young people with training on a variety of skills and topics related to coalition development, public speaking, and working with decision makers. In addition, participants will learn about current and emerging tobacco issues.  Registration is open through May 25th.  More information is available here.

Opportunity to Serve on the CYAN Youth Board of Directors

CYAN is currently recruiting youth (entering the 10th-12th grades during the 2018-2019 school year) to serve on the CYAN Youth Board of Directors (YBOD) for the 2018-2019 academic year.  As a YBOD member, youth will work closely with CYAN staff to plan statewide activities, events, and trainings while learning more about tobacco control and policy advocacy, gaining leadership skills, and having fun networking with other youth from across California.  Applications and additional details are available here.

Smoke/Tobacco-Free CCC Workshop

CYAN’s College Program is hosting a 1.5 day workshop on smoke/tobacco-free California Community Colleges.  The workshop will be held on May 6-7, 2018, in Sacramento, CA.  The interactive workshop is designed to support local advocates and community college partners in advocating for the adoption and implementation of comprehensive smoke/tobacco-free policies.  The workshop is free to those working on tobacco-free initiatives at a California campus.  More information is available on the CYAN College website,

Freeing Veterans from Tobacco Toolkit Now Available

Project UNIFORM has developed a Toolkit to assist programs and clinics serving Veteran populations in creating or strengthening tobacco treatment programs. The toolkit is available for download on the Project UNIFORM website or CYAN can send California providers a printed and bound copy.
