University of California Tobacco Use Policies

In January 2014, all UC campuses, medical centers, and laboratories implemented 100% smoke and tobacco-free policies. The new policies were prompted by a directive from the University of California Office of the President. This policy states that smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e.g., e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited in indoor and outdoor spaces, including parking lots, private residential space, and the Medical Center campuses. Sale and advertising of tobacco products are also prohibited in University-owned and -occupied buildings.
